How to Write a Killer LinkedIn Post

If you're active on LinkedIn - and you should be - then you know having great content on your profile is crucial for growing your network. Fantastic, insightful, and engaging posts will help to connect you with more people and increase your popularity within LinkedIn. But what exactly makes a good post on LinkedIn? It might seem like it should be easy to do, but if you're connecting with the wrong professionals or delivering uninteresting content, no one will want to engage with your profile.

Here are some tips for writing killer LinkedIn posts:

  1. Be Consistent -You don't have to write an essay in each post - just share something interesting once or twice a week. You'll build up an audience over time by consistently providing value through links and comments. Remember the key here is also providing value on a consistent basis.
  2. Write About What You Know- If you really want people to read what you have to say, make sure it's relevant! Don't try too hard to please everyone by posting about things that aren't relevant just so they can see how well-read. Always think about what the reader needs.
  3. Keep it short - I have seen way too long posts lately. No one has time to read long posts. Don't waste space with unnecessary words or long sentences—keep it short and sweet! If you have more than one point to make, use bullet points instead of paragraphs so that people can scan through quickly without getting bored.
  4. Make sure it's relevant -Make sure your post has something useful for the reader before hitting "post," otherwise what's the point? Make sure you're educating along with solving some kind of problem.
  1. Make the post interesting - People want interesting things from their social media feeds—make sure yours isn't boring by providing an engaging storyline instead of just posting links all the time (even though links are important too).
  2. Be Strategic About Your Topic Selection - When deciding what type of content would be relevant enough for readers, think about topics that reflect your strengths and passions while demonstrating your knowledge and solving a problem.

In the end, great LinkedIn posts might seem deceptively simple and straightforward. But, if you look a bit deeper at who's doing it well and how they're doing it, they're not difficult to figure out. And, once you do have a better understanding of what a killer post looks like, you can apply those things to future posts of your own. If you follow these tips, don't be surprised if more people start engaging with your content—and it might even help you move up in the LinkedIn rankings!
